NAWBO-Phoenix and Greater Phoenix SCORE are sponsoring ”Women’s Education Day:  Navigating Business A Woman’s Guide” on April 8, 2009, at the Desert Willows Conference Center in Tempe.  This is a day-long event including speakers in the morning and workshops in the afternoon.  I will be presenting in the morning “Alternative Finance in the Credit Crunch.”    The full agenda is posted at the NAWBO Phoenix website.    And follow this link to register. 

 

ACCA-AZ (Air Conditioning Contractors Association - AZ Chapter) is sponsoring a trade show all day April 9, 2009 at the Mesa Convention Center, 263 North Center Street, Mesa, Arizona.  It is free to attend.  Classes will be held 10-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m.  The show is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Follow this link for all the details.

MCbiz Small Business Enterprise Program, as the group is called, also offers seminars around the valley to help small businesses grow.

 The SBA is sponsoring loan modification information sessions for business owners who are having trouble meeting their obligations on their SBA loans.  Options include asking the lending bank to make the loan “interest only” for a period of time.  Ask your loan officer whether your lender is participating.

March 4, 2009, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. the City of Phoenix is sponsoring an education and networking event for firms in the construction industry.  The education portion is to inform subcontractors about upcoming City of Phoenix construction opportunities.  It is sponsored by the Engineering & Architectural Services Department and it will take place at City Hall, 200 West Washington.  The program is free, but an RSVP is requested to 602-495-7274.

State Contracting and DBE Certification workshop will be held on February 27, 2009, 1 - 4 p.m. at the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, 201 N. Central Ave, 27th floor.  This workshop is sponsored by Arizona Department of Transportation, Arizona State Department of Commerce, Arizona State Procurement Office, and BidSource.  The workshop will explain the tools and resources available to take advantage of state contracting opportunities for small business.  Also offered is a workshop to help women- and minority-owned businesses navigate the maze of becoming DBE certified.  RSVP to BidSource at 602 495-6492.
